I was apprehensive about getting an LVAD implant, but I am happy that I did. I could never have imagined that my outcome after the LVAD implant was as good as it is. I have walked two 5K races and a half-marathon. My doctor has approved me to exercise at a gym. I've been going five days a week and dieting since June. I have already lost about 10 pounds, and if I don't get my transplant within the next couple of months, I will be in the best shape of my life (with the exception of my huge heart). The HeartMate II has also improved my mood and social life. I'm 27 now, and I enjoy being able to go out with friends on evenings. I'm not good at it, but I have started going salsa dancing. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart (no pun intended) for making such a good product.
