A thorough understanding of the technical principles, clinical applications, and risks associated with ventricular support is necessary before using the HeartMateŽ Left Ventricular Assist System (LVAS), the Thoratec® Ventricular Assist Device (VAD), Implantable VAD (IVAD™) or CentriMag Circulatory Support Systems. Federal law restricts these devices to sale by or on the order of a Physician.
