Quarterly Blood Drive

This year Thoratec is introducing quarterly blood drives in one of many efforts to give back to the surrounding community. Every 3 seconds someone needs blood; 60% of the United States population is eligible to donate, but only 5% do on a yearly basis. We want to help change that trend and make a difference in the community that has supported us in our mission to provide top-notch products to our customers.

American Heart Association

The American Heart Walk is the American Heart Association's largest fund-raiser in support of cardiovascular and stroke research which is the #1 killer of men and women, and the #1 birth defect in children. Thoratec Corporation has been a proud sponsor and participant since 2001 raising funds through company wide events and employee involvement.

Heart Hope

Heart HopeAs part of the company's ongoing effort to educate patients and families dealing with and surviving heart failure, Thoratec developed and launched www.hearthope.com. The site features care and support tips, questions to ask physicians, symptoms, types of heart failure and a self-assessment test, which can suggest possible treatment options and physicians in their area.
